VBS 2011
What a great week we had at VBS! So many stories of lives, young and old, being touched with God’s Spirit.
The Vision
This year we wanted children to experience the wild, wonderful love of God no matter who they were. As the evaluations came in from volunteers, the overwhelming consensus answering the question, “Did the children feel loved and valued?” was “yes.”
  
The Children
We had 155 children attend this year with 44 coming from the surrounding inner city community. One crew leader wrote on her evaluation that, “I had 4 children from the community that went from shy and not sure what to do the first night to praising God by the third!” Making a difference is what ministering to children is all about!
The Youth
We had many teens help in Nursery and Kids Club (preschoolers). These young people were given responsibilities as assistant leaders and they did a great job! They were beaming as they led their crews of little ones from one activity to another…the future of Asbury is bright with these young leaders in training.
The Volunteers
123 adults did everything from decorations and filling snack bags to leading small groups of children and presenting Bible stories through drama. One global executive remarked on his evaluation, “Reminded me how wonderful ministry is. More stressful than your real job but so much more rewarding.”
