Whether it is a table fellowship, our men's clothing closet, or our two Sunday worship experiences, we strive to offer quality and create authentic connection with each other and with Jesus.

 

Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world! Let it not be said that we lack ambition! From our beginnings in 1781 as the first Methodist church west of the Susquehanna River, to constructing the present building on this site 100 years ago, Asbury's story is about pioneering. We helped start many new churches in York, and we continue to reinvent ourselves and pioneer new ways to connect with our neighbors.

In the recent changes in The United Methodist Church around gay marriage, we made a commitment to remain United Methodist and to be a Lighthouse for those United Methodists whose churches left the denomination, and for others who are seeking a non-judgmental faith community. We are committed to welcoming everyone as equals in the love of Jesus and to pioneering new expressions of United Methodism for our time.

• iNnovation: Over and over, since we began in 1781, we have pioneered one experiment after another. We have launched churches, schools, an early emergency call center, an immigrant hotline, and a men’s clothes closet. We continue to innovate with impact.

• Adventure: We are all about Jesus and his extraordinary call to a radical way of life. Like Abraham who left his homeland and the first disciples who left their families and good jobs, we are determined to step out together on new adventures with Jesus.
