Asbury York United Methodist Church is looking to fill the vacancy for a Praise and Worship Leader.
Praise & Worship Leader
Task: Lead people of all ages at Asbury’s contemporary worship service in musical experiences that strengthen them as disciples of Jesus Christ, servants in the church, and transformers of the world.
Responsibilities

Encourage and pray for/with Praise Team members, cultivating a strong community

Recruit, audition and develop new Praise Team members

Teach – Nurture the musical abilities of Praise Team members.

Open Asbury’s doors to the community
-
Annually evaluate Asbury’s Praise Team with other musicians and leaders. What is working well? Where are there gaps or weaknesses? Who is not being reached by Asbury's music program? What adaptations or new programs need to be implemented? What is our collective vision? What steps will be taken that to make the vision a reality?

Be familiar with Planning Center, CCLI (including reporting) and history of songs led by the Praise Team.

Work with the Pastor and Praise Team to select music resulting in effective worship.

Rehearse the Praise Team during the week.

Lead a Sunday morning run-through with the Praise Team and lead singing during worship (year-round)

Participate in continuing education. Asbury will cover costs.

Represent 9:00 am music ministry in church decision-making bodies.

Be available to work with other music staff for events such as concerts, off campus events, drama, et al
Background

Ability to articulate a faith that is congruent with the United Methodist Church
-
Ability to lead worship and sing while playing the keyboard (priority) and/or guitar
-
Ability to read music
-
Music and ministry education and/or appropriate experience
-
Ability to listen to and communicate with people of all ages and musical backgrounds
-
Interest in a wide range of musical styles and experiences, including global
-
Ability to work with a team, volunteers and committees
-
Skills for researching worship and music issues and sensitivity to what makes worship effective
-
Be flexible and capable of changes needed to lead effect worship and reach the community
-
Initiate meetings to resolve issues or concerns
-
Pass all Safe Sanctuary clearances and complete Safe Sanctuary training
-
Organized and effective at planning in advance
Other Information:

10 hours per week

Compensation is competitive with other local churches and commensurate with skills and experience

Reports to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, Pastor and Praise Team

Evaluated annually by the Pastor and SPRC
